Background and personal history

I am passionately committed to Focusing and I enjoy seeing the resulting changes in my students’ lives, as well as my own. I feel privileged to be able to facilitate people unfolding to their inner wisdom. I am frequently in awe of this wonderful process and how it unfolds in myself and in others.

Focusing has brought an ease and flow into my life, enabling me to not only get through any difficulties with more ease and grace, but also bringing more self-confidence and trust in my decisions and capacity to grow. I have had the good fortune to train with world-class Focusing teachers, and what I have learned from each of them informs my practice.

My interest in personal development began at the Findhorn spiritual community in Scotland where I lived from 1978. After I left, I facilitated self-development through Circle Dance, dreamwork and The Transformation Game in Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the USA. In 1991 I reached a point of change in my life, and that’s when I became interested in Focusing. It has helped me so much that I took the Practitioner training in 2000, and the Teacher training in 2001. I am now a BFA recognised Mentor, a Focusing Institute Co-ordinator and a qualified teacher of adults (PGCE).
I am based in Devon, and I work in Exeter and in Liverton on Dartmoor.

Supervision

As a BFA recognised Focusing Practitioner and Mentor I am committed to seeking regular supervision and continuing my professional development. This ensures my work is effective and adheres to strict ethical guidelines. I also get support for my work through regular peer consultative support.

Confidentiality

I am committed to confidentiality and I work within the BFA Code of Ethics and Operational Philosophy. Copies of these guidelines are available on request. Under no circumstances will any content of a Focusing session be repeated unless specific permission to do so is granted by the individual Focuser. It is also recognised that an individual is in charge of revealing or keeping private their sensitive and private matters in order to feel safe.

“From the first weekend it was clear to me that Focusing would be something that would be a valuable life-long skill. Fiona’s guidance and support enabled us not only to reach some really deep, new places inside of ourselves, but to companion others in their process. I’m so glad I came.” – D.H. April 2016.
