Online Focusing Skills Certificate Course
The Online Focusing Skills Certificate Course comprises of 5 Levels, or modules, and leads to a Certificate in Focusing skills which is the foundation for professional training, and gives you a good grounding in the practice of Focusing and Companioning.
The course is divided into a series of 4 x weekly half-days of 3 hours each.
There is a break for 4 – 6 weeks for you to practice and to integrate what you have learned.
There follows another series of 4 weekly seminars, which comprise the next Level or module. There are five modules in total, so the course takes several months to complete.
Focusing works best when you learn and absorb slowly, over a period of time.
This is an online course for people who cannot travel, or do weekend courses.
You can join the course without leaving the comfort of your own home.
The course is face-to-face online, so you can see your tutor and the other participants.
Zoom is free-to-use software, enabling a group online conference facility. For 2 – 5 people maximum.
This distance learning opportunity is for you:
- If you can’t get away at weekends
- If you can’t travel to courses
- If you would prefer to learn in shorter weekly chunks
- If you would prefer to learn Focusing without leaving the comfort of your own home
The Online Focusing Skills Certificate Course works by Zoom conference call. You can hear and see the others on the call.
After introductions and meeting the others on the course, you learn the specifics of Focusing, see a demonstration or do an exercise and get instructions for practice.
Then you ring off and call one of the other people for a short practice session, or we may practice in the whole group.
After the session we come back together as a group, hear how it went, any feedback and learning to share and further discussions.

For your own personal growth and development.
Outcomes of each level:
Level 1: Introduction to Focusing
Learn how to listen to your inner wisdom through creating a positive inner relationship with yourself. Develop the knowledge and skills to begin to practise Focusing alone, and to begin to listen to an other, so you can Focus with a companion. By the end of Level 1, you will have a basic understanding of the Focusing process.
Level 2: Being a Focusing Companion
Practise the listening skills that enable you to companion someone else in a Focusing partnership. Expand your Focusing skills. Release blocks and stuck places. Unleash your creative energy. By the end of Level 2, you will be able to join a peer group of Focusers, form a Focusing partnership, and attend further or advanced classes and workshops.
Level 3: Companionship
Learn how to support the Inner Relationship of the Focuser with their felt experience. Deepen your own Focusing skills. By the end of Level 3, you will have a deeper understanding of the Focusing process, and will be able to guide yourself through the process. You will also be able to support another Focuser with your listening skills.
Level 4: Reminders
Learn how to offer reminding suggestions in a Focusing partnership. This takes you deeper into the heart of the Focusing Process, and the relationship between a Focuser and their companion. By the end of Level 4, you will be able to offer guiding suggestions to your Focusing partner, and to extend your ability to self-guide.
Level 5: Applied Focusing
Learn more about ‘presence and partiality’ – developing your ability to be fully with whatever needs you attention, and the biases and no-go areas that can interfere with that. Make Focusing fully your own. Times for further practice and demonstrations. Bring your questions, and what you would like to explore.
This is not a professional qualification, but it is required if you want to go on and do further training towards becoming a Focusing professional.
